Przegląd festiwali muzycznych (część 1)

Wakacje w pełni, a lato to oprócz błogiego lenistwa także wydarzenia związane z muzyką. Mnie osobiście lato zawsze kojarzyło się z festiwalami, których na całym świecie jest niemało, a ile, o tym przekonacie się śledząc rozpoczynający się przegląd festiwali muzycznych.

Kryterium wyboru opisywanych imprez był fakt ich regularnego pojawiania się w kalendarzu oraz funkcjonowanie do obecnego roku pańskiego 2016.

Reading and Leeds Festivals – powstała w 1961 roku para corocznie organizowanych festiwali muzyki rockowej odbywających się od lat w sierpniowe weekendy w Reading i Leeds w Anglii. Reading Festival to jeden z najstarszych wciąż istniejących festiwali, którego line-up od lat skoncentrowany jest głównie na muzyce rock, Indie i punk.

Początki Festiwalu sięgają lat 60. kiedy to Harold Pendleton zorganizował Krajowy Festiwal Jazzowy w Richmond Athletic w 1961 roku. W pierwszej dekadzie swojego istnienia festiwal zmieniał nazwę i lokalizację zanim w 1971 roku stałym miejscem jego organizacji stało się Reading.

W latach 1961-62 festiwal nastawiony był na prezentację zespołów jazzowych więc jego line-up niewiele mówi współczesnym fanom muzyki, ale już w 1963 i 64 roku do składu występujących zespołów dołączyła grupa The Rolling Stones.
